Pakistan Institute of Physics (PIP) was established in 1976 by the eminent physicists of Pakistan. The main objective of PIP is to promote the advancement and dissemination of the knowledge of both pure and applied physics as well as to elevate the profession of physics. In this way PIP is playing its role for the improvement of physics education and research in Pakistan.
Since 1990 PIP is regularly publishing its newsletter Physics News which includes Community News, Review Articles, abstracts of the Research Papers, Announcements of Conference, Honors and Awards achieved by Physicists and profiles of the Life members of PIP. At present 1565 Physicists are enrolled as Life Members and 182 are Ordinary members of PIP. They also have been regularly conducting various conferences where participants both from abroad & within Pakistan related to various R&D organizations including Universities will present their research papers in different areas of Physics such as Nano Science and Technology, Laser-Material Interactions, Plasma Physics, Materials Science, Quantum Well Devices and Super Conductivity, Photovoltaic, Atomic and Nuclear Physics, Medical and Health Physics, Atmospheric Physics, Meteorology and Environmental Physics, etc. These conferences provide a great opportunity to the scientists/engineers particularly physicist to share & interact with each other to discuss the various problems in these areas & will also help in promoting the scientific culture in the country
